Anti-Semitic vaccine deniers – continued attacks on Prof. Reiss

Last updated on October 13th, 2019 at 03:28 pm

The second most prolific writer on this blog (after the feathery carnivorous dinosaur) is Professor Dorit Rubinstein Reiss, a tenured professor of Law at University of California Hastings College of Law, one of the premiere law schools in this country. Yesterday, Professor Reiss wrote a detailed article about a recent proceeding with that case which she attended. Within hours, if not minutes, the anti-Semitic vaccine deniers were out in force to attack her.

It’s been clear to me for a long time that those on the anti-vaccine side realize they lack evidence – their only choice is to go for the ad hominem personal attacks. These attacks come in  all forms from accusing people of being shills for whatever company to creating some massive conspiracy that includes those of us who are Jewish and pro-vaccine. Just a note, this dinosaur is Jewish – but I’m flexible on consuming pigs.

The anti-vaccine cult can’t help themselves. Let’s see what they’ve done in the past few hours.

Anti-Semitism and vaccination

I’ve written previously about the childish and horrific anti-Semitic attacks on Professor Dorit Reiss, who frequently contributes to this blog. But the anti-semitism and the false comparison of vaccines to the Holocaust is a disease amongst the vaccine deniers.

For example, California Republican Assemblyman Jim Patterson (Fresno – the anal cavity of California), likened the the authors of the SB 277 pro-vaccine legislation to Nazis when he compared keeping unvaccinated children at home to putting them in Nazi internment camps. I guess I’m at a loss as to how vaccines, which save lives, can be compared to Nazi murders, but then again, I’m not a Holocaust denier like Jim Patterson.

The Natural News, probably the worst sources of real scientific information on the internet, claimed that “the very arguments used by today’s vaccine pushers to contend that the government should force everyone to be vaccinated against their will closely resemble the eugenics justifications of Nazi Germany.”

Wow, that’s a stretch. The Nazis believed that their white, blue-eyed, blonde-haired people were superior to all others. They killed those who weren’t using any number of justification. Just to inform any readers who don’t get this, but unless every scientist in the world is missing something, vaccines do not have anything to do with eugenics. Vaccines save lives. Period.

Anti-Semitic vaccine deniers  – attacking Dorit

I’ve written previously about the childish and horrific anti-Semitic attacks on Professor Dorit Reiss, who frequently contributes to this blog:

There is actually worse stuff about Professor Reiss on the internet, none of it, of course, based on anything scientific or legally valid, just a constant stream of ad hominem attacks with a large dollop of anti-Semitism thrown in for good measure.

But after the hearing on SB277 recently in San Diego, the anti-semitic vaccine deniers went into full swing with Professor Reiss:

Ms. Lewis shows off her ignorance of both the law and vaccines. But does show a great deal of being afflicted with the Dunning-Kruger cognitive bias. First, Professor Reiss is not a defendant. If Ms. Lewis knew anything about the law, Dr. Reiss is a private citizen and has nothing to do with the implementation of this law, except as an advocate. Just read the damn complaint, and this will become readily apparent.

In case the reader thinks I’m full of it, here’s the full complaint in Whitlow et al. vs. State of California Department of Education et al:

Request for temporary restraining order (pdf).

I searched the complaint – no mention of Professor Dorit Rubinstein Reiss. But then again, I learned how to search documents way back when I first learned how to use Microsoft Word.

That was just one the attacks. There were more:

Note the racism, the misogyny and the overt anti-semitism. Using Professor Reiss’ Israeli background to denigrate and attack someone shows the low intellect and high ignorance of these racists. They’ve got nothing but personal attacks, but since Professor Reiss is on the right side of science, and the right side of children’s health, I guess slandering something is all their two-neuron brains can muster. it’s kind of sad.

The TL;DR version

It’s clear that there was a time when bigotry, including anti-Semitism, stayed beneath the surface. Polite, civil, educated people just didn’t say it out loud.

Only ignorant, hate-filled people would express their racism, especially out in the open.  But today, everyone has a voice on the internet, so being upfront and proud about any type of racism, including anti-Semitism, seems to go on unimpeded. Donald Trump can scream that Mexicans are rapists, and those of us who find that offensive and hateful cringe publicly. The ones who think that just because you have a brown skin, you are less than the uneducated whites, cheer Trump on.

Let’s be honest. Anti-Semitism is just a nice name for racist and bigoted commentary. If somehow one can justify hating a group of people, whatever their skin tone, ethnicity or country of origin, it’s racism.

If you invent lame memes that deny the Holocaust, even indirectly, by claiming that vaccination, which has minimal harm, is the same as the murder of six million Jews (or even deny that six million Jews were murdered), you’re a racist. Is this not clear to anyone but me?

One more time and with emphasis with respect to vaccines. Bring evidence. If you have none, and you rely upon outright bigotry, including anti-Semitism, then you’re just a pathetic, bigoted member of the privileged white class.
