I enjoy doing this annually because I can see which articles were in the top 10 most read during 2024. It’s a fun exercise, and I can share it with my loyal readers.

It’s mostly about vaccines, but there are a few others that received a large number of views, like cancer and COVID. I wonder when COVID will cease to be of interest to everyone, but so far in 2024, anything I write about COVID gets tons of views. So, I will keep writing about it.

Aside from my 2024 top 10 list, three additional articles written years ago still get a boatload of views. Those were:

• Anthony William, the Medical Medium — this 2023 article reviewed the pseudoscientific quackery of the so-called Medical Medium, who thinks he can diagnose disease through magical means. It’s worth the laugh.
• The tragic passing of Nick Catone — this 2023 article, by Dorit Rubinstein Reiss, reviews the anti-vaccine claims by the parents of Nick Catone. Professor Reiss writes that there is no evidence that vaccines contributed anything.
• “Starving cancer” is a pseudoscientific myth — this 2023 article reviewed the false claims that you can starve cancer. No evidence supports these claims.

Besides those three articles, everything else in the top 10 for the 2024 list was published this past year!

2024 top 10 most-viewed articles

Here we go in order.

1. mRNA vaccine for pancreatic cancer — new research shows that a pancreatic cancer mRNA-based vaccine improves outcomes from the cancer. I remember posting this article on X, and the anti-vaxxers went ballistic. I imagine that their cognitive dissonance went into overdrive trying to determine if they would use an mRNA vaccine to treat themselves or loved ones if they had pancreatic cancer.
2. The largest safety study of COVID vaccines finds rare issues — of course, the study showed that the COVID vaccines were extraordinarily safe for everyone. Which we all knew.
3. mRNA vaccine for pancreatic cancer enters phase 2 trials — this was another article that discussed the clinical research for an mRNA-based pancreatic cancer vaccine. Again, the anti-vaxxers were confused.
4. Fresno teacher dies of rabies from a bat bite — the tragic story about a teacher who was bitten or scratched by an infected bat in her classroom and died without getting the rabies vaccine treatment. Just a reminder, once rabies symptoms appear, it is nearly 100% fatal. If a person gets the rabies vaccine before symptoms appear, there is nearly 100% survival.
5. More evidence for the safety of COVID mRNA vaccines — the COVID mRNA vaccines are safe. This is real science.
6. Evidence indicates long COVID could be a brain injury — research shows that long COVID causes brain injury. And another reason to be vaccinated.
7. COVID is linked to a higher risk of rheumatic disease — another reason to be vaccinated, since COVID might increase your risk of debilitating rheumatic disease.
8. RFK Jr wants to Make America Healthy Again — I don’t think so — Robert F Kennedy Jr is anti-vaccine, so he’s going to make America Unhealthy Again, just like it was in the early 1900s when kids died before they turned five.
9. Why does COVID cause type 1 diabetes? — this article reviewed the biological mechanisms where COVID can cause lifelong type 1 diabetes.
10. Lung cancer mRNA vaccine shows promising results — this article reviewed the promising results from an mRNA vaccine used to treat non-small cell lung cancer, one of the most common forms of lung cancer. Once again, anti-vaxxers lost their mind when I published it.

Well, that’s it, those were the top 10 (or 13) most-read articles for 2024 published here. I’m sure there will be a lot of excitement going into 2025 since we have a lunatic soon running the vaccine system in the USA. I know I’ll have to be writing about polio, something that was last seriously discussed in 1955.

But I’m still here planning to fight the good fight.
